Valine is an amino acid that helps in growth, tissue repair, energy production, and the regulation of blood sugar. 3. Proper dosage

The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for valine varies by age. The average RDA is 89 mg for infants, 25 mg for children, and 15 mg for adults. Valine overdose can cause hallucinations, a crawling sensation on the skin, increased ammonia levels, and impairment of liver and kidney function.

4. Safety

Valine should always be taken with leucine and isoleucine to be better absorbed by the body. The ideal proportion is 2 mg each of valine and leucine for every milligram of isoleucine. Choose combination supplements instead of individual ones to better control dosage and proportions. However, isoleucine may aggravate liver and kidney problems, so patients with such conditions must consult their doctors before taking valine supplements.
